The lowly cockroach fights

Thwack it! Spray it!

It doesn't yield.

What does it know of beauty?

Feeding in the gutter,

Scurrying through your deserted kitchen.

Existence is precious.

Once you gave in to selfish desire.

You transgressed!

So what?

Pulsating life flowed through you.

Stop making excuses!

Don't Justify.

Don't Explain.

You were selfish!

Plain old selfish.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

Superiority inferiority

What utter crap!

Member of the aryan race?

You strand of letters!

You 90% ape;

20% shrivelled grape.

98% pig!

You were just selfish

so what?

You discovered life is precious.

Existence is precious.

You want to cling to this version of Existence?

Let go!

Look!

There at the door.

Don't you see it?

A Desire waits. Ready

to Ravish You!

Embrace you in a whirlwind of Lively Chaos!

Jump! Join the sensation.

Heart open wide-

Riding the new adventure.

When I was trying to depict the poem, I had this image of someone spraying a roach with HIT. The roach is found in an otherwise luxurious kitchen/dining area. The swirls of insecticide begin to look like the iconic spirals in Van Gogh's starry night. As the roach meets his end, he escapes into Van Gogh's starry night. In my head the roach and the HIT looked more like an image from an Andy Warhol pop art piece. My artistic skill did not allow me to capture this idea in concrete!

The more I tried with a photographic collage( objects in my house, vogue magazine cut outs, some leftover wedding invitations) to ineffectively capture my popart cockaroach, the more my mind conjured images of assault( rolling pin battering!) for the cockroach as well as images of the heaven the cockroach escapes into.
